KELLY TROY – Principal
As the principal of Troy Insurance Group, Kelly Troy has an extensive background in real estate investing (residential and commercial), industrial and manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, OSHA, industrial hygiene, safety program development and loss control, risk management, and other related areas. He has worked as a professional safety manager for several large corporations and he was also an Industrial Hygienist for the Texas Worker’s Compensation Commission and OSHA Consultation Program (OSHCON). He was also the corporate Director of Quality Assurance for a large global manufacturing company and he has been a professional speaker and trainer for various real-estate and investing-related workshops and coaching programs. He has a great deal of first-hand industry experience in construction, electronics manufacturing, welding and metal fabrication, property management, hazardous materials, and transportation.
RACHEL MARTINEZ – Manager, Commercial Accounts
Rachel Martinez, who is fluent in Spanish, is our Manager of Commercial Accounts. With 22 years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience, she prides herself on her polished service skills and commitment to providing the best coverage possible for her clients as well as her in-depth knowledge of commercial insurance and the risks and exposures faced by today’s business owners. As a true insurance professional and expert in commercial lines, Rachel has worked with clients ranging from new one-person start-ups to multi-million dollar firms and she is familiar with virtually all types of commercial coverages.
LUIS GARZA DE HARO – Account Executive, Personal Lines
Originally born in Mexico City, Luis Garza de Haro, who is also fluent in both English and Spanish, has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas with a focus in Finance and Accounting. With over 19 years experience in insurance and financial services, Luis previously worked for Guaranty Federal Savings Bank, where in 1994 he established the Trading Group - which processed all trade orders, transfers, and settlement for multi billion dollar plans. Leaving the banking industry, Luis worked with State Farm for several years until joining our team at Troy Insurance Group to lead our personal lines department. Luis works with many of our real-estate and investing-related clients with regards to their short-term rental properties, dwellings, and other similar risks.

TROY AHRENS, CLU, ChFC - Principal / Investments
Troy Ahrens is one of the Principals at Capital Benefits Group. A true Austinite, Troy was born and raised in South Austin and played baseball for the University of Texas. In 1995 he began his professional career at Northwestern Mutual building a significant insurance and investment client base. Concentrating in the corporate benefits arena, Troy saw the need for expanded resources and tools for servicing his clients. With this in mind, he then merged practices with several other industry leaders in 2008, forming Capital Benefits Group.

VERONICA HERNANDEZ – Senior Account Manager
As a Senior Account Executive, Veronica Hernandez has over 15 years of experience managing employee benefits and she is a former member of the Austin Association of Health Underwriters Board. In addition to her Series 6 and Series 63 securities licenses, she is an RHU (Registered Health Underwriter) and CBC (Chartered Benefits Consultant) as well as a PAHM (Professional, Academy of Healthcare Management). She also has over six years of experience working directly with a self-funded carrier and her areas of focus include underwriting and plan design analysis, legislative and compliance issues, loss review and trend analysis, claims, and general account management.

MICHELLE CURRY – Investments
As a motivated and personable business professional, Michelle Curry helped to open the doors of business at Capital Benefits Group in 2008. A graduate of Southwest Texas State University, Michelle earned a BBA in Finance and has spent the past several years gaining experience in the retirement industry and building valuable relationships with the many different service providers within the retirement planning community. Her ability to organize multifaceted tasks along with her attention to detail has served her well in assisting and supporting clients.
KATHERINE BROUGHTON – Investments
A native Texan, Katherine Broughton joined Capital Benefits Group with over five years of experience in the financial services industry. Her commitment to our clients and her industry knowledge are valuable additions to our investments team. A graduate of Texas A&M University, she holds her Series 7, Series 63, and Group 1 licenses.
T.J. CABALLERO – Controller
T.J. joined Capital Benefits Group after working four years in the tax and payroll industry as an operations specialist. He brought with him the experience gained from working for another successful financial representative for four years and he understands that the key to any successful business is making sure that the often unglamorous work that goes on ‘behind the scenes’ is not neglected. T.J. works very hard to make certain that the agents, account managers, and other operatives in our office have the tools they need to meet your needs. So many times in this day and age important details are can easily be overlooked and strong relationships that may have taken several years to develop are severed in an instant. With this in mind, T.J. makes a concerted effort to be sure that these instances do not occur for clients and agents alike.
